If you have special payments terms we suggest you contact the buyer with the specifics. Not everyone reads the item description.
General expectation is that items are shipped either same day or within 24 hours of payment. Anything outside of this should either be stated in the item description (i.e. will ship within 48 hours of payment) or communicated to the buyer. During the months of temperature extremes it is widely accepted and appreciated to ship items only on Mondays. This type of planning should also be communicated to and confirmed by the buyer.
Work and life happens. Sometimes you just can't get to FedEx on-time. That's OK. What is not OK is to simply ignore your buyer and not keep them updated as to the status of their item(s). I have yet to hear a complaint from a buyer that the seller over-communicated during their transaction.
