Buyers and sellers each have their own preference for shipping carriers. FedEx, UPS, USPS, BPost and so on. While there is no preferred/endorsed method from mybeercollectibles.com's perspective, there is most definitely a standard for packaging of items. There are numerous articles and how-to's published on proper packing to ensure undamaged deliveries. You can start by reading UPS and FedEx guidance on packing of items. You can find packing suggestions, money-saving tips, warnings about what not to do, etc in the online beer forums.
Some suggestions:
- Do ensure that each item is packed in a manner so that no edge is touching the outside of the box. There should always be a buffer between your item and the box in case it is dropped on an edge, for instance.
- Do sign up for an online account for shipping services. This can save you money and makes selling more efficient by doing it all online.
- Do not use old alcohol boxes
- Do use styrofoam and/or cardboard bottle shippers when available
- Do not skimp on packing materials - packing peanuts, bubble wrap, etc. It's better to pay an extra dollar for more bubble wrap than to eat the cost of a broken bottle.
