The site terms and conditions (TOS) describe the interaction with this site and PayPal.
This commentary applies to Venmo payments and Paypal friends and family payments only. As described in the TOS of MBC, you are covered under the Paypal resolution/dispute process for payments made through the Paypal payment links on this website.
MyBeerCollectibles.com does not endorse Venmo or PayPal friends and family payments. While MBC does not prohibit users from conducting transactions using friends and family or Venmo payments please understand that if the seller does not follow through on your transaction you, the buyer, have little to no recourse. Your money would be gone. Again, lack of protection only applies in friends and family payments. You are protected with regular PayPal payments (i.e goods and services payments). In the grand scheme of things a couple percentage points on a high dollar item is worth the insurance to know that you will either receive your item intact, as described, or be able to request a refund through PayPal dispute services.
Sellers are not allowed to require friends and family payments or Venmo. All sellers ARE REQUIRED to accept regular PayPal payments with no additional fee. Sellers are NOT allowed to require additional payment to cover the Paypal fee after payment has been submitted. Personally, I feel that sellers should absorb the paypal fee as the cost of doing business and build it into the pricing of items. My hope is that buyers avoid sellers trying to collect f&f payments and everyone just does things the easiest way. This action streamlines the entire buying process and makes this site work like an actual e-commerce site. Having to send messages back and forth to determine payment terms just makes everything less efficient. Time is worth money.
Do not add some remark to your listings such as, "message me before payment". This is an obvious attempt to get people to pay by gift. Chances are that you aren't the only seller with the item. Buyers want an easy transaction. They want to click, then pay. They don't want to message back and forth.
Sellers are NOT allowed to state anything similar to the following in their listings:
- PayPal only directly through PayPal's site using "Friends/Family" option (or add 3.5%)
- Please pay Paypal friends and family
- Venmo only
- Paypal f&f only
- any implication that better/faster service will be provided or better feedback will be supplied with gift payment
- and so on
If you are trying to collect f&f payments, the below statement is required on all listings. This does NOT allow seller to force f&f payment. That decision is 100% on the buyer:
MBC REQUIRED TEXT
Paypal friends and family payment (or Venmo) is preferred, NOT required.
MBC ALLOWED PAYMENT CLAUSE (or a derivative)
5% discount with ppff or venmo payment
Buyer is NOT covered by the Paypal Purchase Protection policy when payments are submitted by f&f payment. Buyers ARE covered under the Paypal Purchase Protection policy when submitting regular Paypal payments (i.e. the payment link through the MBC website).
Practice sound judgment in your transactions. Why would you trust a stranger with your money without any guarantees?
Any attempts to conduct business outside of the website are prohibited and should be reported to administrator. Any attempts by sellers to violate Paypal payment policy should be reported to administrator.
MBC reserves the right to change its policy on Paypal payments at anytime, without notice. Continued abuse of this policy will result in account suspension, deleted listings, and/or monetary penalties.
